I love having a planner. I love all the planner stickers, and the fancy colourful pens I have and the pretty pages. I love spending time writing out and planning my days, weeks, and months in my planner and using the stickers to make the pages all happy. And then, that’s it. I don’t go to it daily to check and see what I need to do, what appointment I may have or the kids may have or what time dance is or hockey it. I just forget. I get up, get lunches ready and go on with my day or go to work and it just sits there. On my kitchen island or in my bag or on my kitchen table. Just staring at me. I know I have my list of what needs to be done or where I need to be. But I just don’t use it. I just remember what needs to get done because it’s a daily routine. Right now Im planning my Christmas YouTube videos. I can see when I open it that Im about 3 videos behind in what I have scheduled. So then I get overwhelmed and feel like a failure because Im behind in MY list. No one else’s. I think I like the idea of the planner. Makes me feel like my messed up schedule is under control when I write it out and I see it in front of me. And I have a big one. It’s like 8×10. I like that I can see everything spaced out nice and big and not crammed into those tiny little pocket sized ones. I got mine from Walmart for like $15 and I love it. It’s very pretty. I have always loved stationary since I was like 7. And don’t even get me started on meal planning.
So, to not use your planner.
You fill it all in.
Use your fancy stickers you get from Michaels.
Use your fancy pens that cost $10 each and are real pretty.
Close it up.
And that’s it. Just leave it. Don’t open it again until you are ready to plan for your next week.
